# License and third-party notices

The project license is [license.txt](licenses/license.txt), Copyright (c) 2026 Robert Aldrich. It permits commercial and noncommercial use, modification and redistribution with retention of the complete license and copyright notice. It includes acceptance, conspicuous warranty and liability disclaimers, Virginia governing law and an applicable-law saving clause. It is a custom permissive license in the MIT style, not the unmodified MIT license or a claim of OSI certification. It does not impose an obligation to reimburse or defend the author against third-party claims.

The full project license is embedded in the public landing page from the same canonical file during packaging. Edit the license file, then rebuild the public distribution to update both the page and archive. This drafting cannot establish that every exclusion will be enforceable in every situation.

Third-party material retains its own terms:

- [Three.js MIT license](licenses/THREE.txt).
- [MakeHuman graphical data notice](licenses/PEOPLE_AUTHORED_ASSETS.md), with upstream CC0 links and per-asset provenance in the people package.

The project does not include the MakeHuman application code. The third-party graphical assets and Three.js are included with the framework; their original notices are retained.

Drafting references: [MIT license, Open Source Initiative](https://opensource.org/license/mit) and [Virginia Code § 59.1-504.6](https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title59.1/chapter43/section59.1-504.6/). These references explain drafting choices; they are not a determination that a statute applies to every use of this package.
